OLASOJU WELCOMES JUDGEMENT, AS ELECTION TRIBUNAL STRIKES OUT PETITION AGAINST HIS VICTORY
Isolo, Lagos
Tues. 2nd Sept. ‘25
The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, has commended the 2025 Lagos State Local Government Election Tribunal for dismissing the petition against his resounding victory in the last local government elections.
The Tribunal, headed by Justice Sholebo (Rtd), on Tuesday, described as lacking in merit the petition filed by the Chairmanship Candidate of the Labour Party in Isolo LCDA, Salako Fasasi, challenging Olasoju’s victory.
Fasasi, who came a distant third in the election, polled only 864 votes as against Olasoju’s 22,331 votes. The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Shonubi, secured 1,144 votes.
The Tribunal, after a series of diligent proceedings for due diligence, struck out Fasasi’s petition for lacking merit and for failure to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act on filing election petitions.
Olasoju described the ruling as a welcome development and a defense of the will of the electorate.
“This is a welcome development and yet another victory for grassroots democracy. I dedicate this ruling to the good people of Isolo LCDA, especially the electorate who came out en masse to renew our mandate on Saturday, 12th July. I also commend my counsel, Barrister Babatunde Ogala, SAN, our campaign DG, Hon. Jamiu Omotayo and others for a job well done,” Olasoju said.
He further called on his opponents to join hands with him in his mission to take Isolo to greater heights by consolidating his #TowardsTheIsoloOfOurDreams mantra in the council area.
“Let me emphasize again: one of the core pillars of our administration is inclusiveness, and we remain committed to upholding it. Development requires concerted effort from all sides, and on that note, I extend an olive branch to our opponents and other stakeholders to join us in this noble mission,” the triumphant Olasoju added.
