Int’l Women’s Day: Isolo Council Boss Celebrates Women, Promises To ‘Accelerate Action’ Towards Equality, Women\'s Rights, Empowerment
“Women are an integral members of any thriving society; they are one of the pillars upon which a family is established, they are nation-builders, they are the driving force of our commerce. They are the all-in-all; hence, the need for acknowledging their importance and celebrating them on this year’s International Women\'s Day.”
Above is an excerpt from the glowing tributes written by the Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo as his wife - Olajumoke Olasoju led women from the council area to participate in this year’s International Women\'s Day on Friday. In the statement issued by his Media Office, Olasoju extolled the virtues of Isolo women and others across the world adding that without the womenfolk the male gender would have had so much so much to desire about existence as he wondered what a community will be without women.
The council boss used the medium to recall his administration’s strides in elevating women in the council area just as he renewed his commitment to consolidate his efforts in promoting women’s right, equality and empowerment, just as this year\'s theme suggested.
“A key component of our #IsoloOfOurDream agenda is Women empowerment and that stems from our believe that when you empower a woman, you empower a nation. We\'ve carried out numerous projects aimed at making our council area a model of an egalitarian community where gender doesn\'t really determine government\'s responsibility and responsiveness. The most recent being our \'Business Grants to traders\' wherein hundreds of women were supported with N200,000 each to grow their businesses.
“This year’s theme has only tasked us to do more in this regards and I will like to reassure our young women, mothers and the entire women in council area that we will not rest on our oars. Happy International Women\'s Day!,” the statement concluded.
