…Counsels Beneficiaries About Making The Most Of The Grant

OLASOJU SPLASHES N50 MILLION ON 250 MARKET WOMEN, SMEs OWNERS IN MEGA BUSINESS GRANT

Isolo, Lagos
Fri. 13th Dec., \'24

At least 250 Small and Medium Scale (SMEs) business owners in Isolo LCDA Thursday had their trades supported to the tune of N200,000:00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) each by the Olasoju Adebayo-led council administration of Isolo LCDA.

At the program dubbed \'Business Support Grant For Isolo LCDA Traders\', Olasoju impressed it on his guests which included the revered three-time Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Otunba Oladele Ajomale, the pioneer chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Chief Martins Adegboyega, the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede-Bello, the President of Lagos State Council Chairmen’s Wives Association (LASCCWA), Alhaja Kehinde Ajala among other dignitaries as well as the beneficiaries that the gesture was in furtherance of his administration’s policy of empowering SMEs and Market women.

Speaking on the yardstick adopted in the selection process, Olasoju added that the 250 beneficiaries were selected without preferences from a pool of SMEs and Market traders identified by the organising committee hinting that others would be taken care of in coming phases.

“We look at those that really needed to have this grant and come to a conclusion that we should start with 250 beneficiaries and that will amount to about 50 million. We are not just giving them this money, we are doing it through a bank who will issue them debit cards to  the savings account opened with the details filled on their enrolment forms; and we are not taking this money back. It’s not a loan, it’s a grant. We believe it will mean something to turn their business around and in the next six months we will look at how they’ve fared,” Olasoju said.

The council boss\' counterpart from Ejigbo, Hon. Oloyede and LASCCWA President, Alhaja Kehinde Ajala, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa among others took turns to counsel the beneficiaries on the need to invest the grant on their respective businesses, as designed, and not on frivolous activities.

Before performing the symbolic presentation of dummy cheque to the beneficiaries, Otunba Ajomale showered encomium on Olasoju rating his administration high for his transformational and Impactful leadership at the saddle.

The towering political leader urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the grant to boost their business activities.

Like other beneficiaries, Mrs Aminat Alani showered heartfelt prayers on Olasoju adding that the cash sum will greatly boost her foodstuffs business and put her in a stead for plentiful profits this Yuletide period.

“I can’t tell you how grateful I am about this timely business supprt by our chairman. Two hundred thousand naira in this time is a lot to start a small business and boost an existing one. As soon as I withdraw the money I’m taking it to the market to get more stock  to be sold this Christmas period for more profit. I am grateful,” Alani said.

Other dignitaries who graced the historic  event included the council chairperson, Mrs Olajumoke Olasoju, the Iyaloja General of Isolo LCDA, Chief Mrs Eunice Dosunmu, the Regent of Isolo Kingdom, High Chief Saliu Wasiu Arowo-Oye, and Chiefs-in-council, Alhaji Jide Oni, Alhaji Wahab Raji, Alhaji Fatai Abisiga, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Isolo LCDA, Reverend S.K.
