COMMUNITY: OLASOJU DOLES OUT GRANTS TO CDAs

True to his words of exploring every avenue to ensure sustainable infrastructural development in the council area, the Mayor of Isolo, Olasoju Adebayo has doled out grants to the tune of five million naira to ten Community Development Areas (CDAs) in the council area. 

The grant, according to Olasoju was for the outstanding CDAs namely: Alagbeji, Greenfield, Awoniyi Elemo, Karimu Olushi, Kagaj, Graceland, Liberty, Iyewa Isale-Odo, Oluwalogbon, and Ire-Akari Estate East CDAs to enable them to undertake community self-help projects in their respective communities. 

The grant presentation was made on the sideline of the Flag-off of the reconstruction of Aswani/Emzor Road and distribution of grants to no fewer than 250 Small and Medium Scace Enterprises (SMEs) owners in the council area last Thursday. 

His words, “This grant is in furtherance of our commitment to exploring every avenue to drive infrastructural development in our council area. This initiative is to see how the CDAs can consolidate our midas touch in infrastructural renewal in their immediate communities. The Community Development Committee (CDC) under the leadership of Hon. Segun Olatunde has been supportive of our administration through project monitoring, public sensitization and evangelization of our policies/programmes. 

“We hope that the CDC will see to the effective and judicious usage of this grant by the benefiting CDAs for the betterment of their communities,” Olasoju remarked.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo  Bolarinwa hailed Olasoju for his multifaceted approach to driving development in Isolo LCDA as she specifically thumbed him up for the rebranding of the council secretariat. 

On his part, the CDC Chairman, Hon. Adesegun Olatunde appreciated the council boss for the empowerment describing it as a thoughtful initiative. 

“Giving ten CDAs a grant of Five Hundred Thousand Naira each is huge. It is a lot of money looking at the situation of the country now. Even at the state level; during the yearly Community Day where best CDAs are celebrated, apart from those given vehicles, if you come 5th or 6th all you\\\\\\\'ll get is Five Hundred Thousand Naira this means that the chairman has thought it well. God will always give him the knowledge and understanding to do more. We so much appreciate this gesture. 

Olatunde concluded by assuring that the grant will be effectively used to undertake developmental projects.
