Isolo, Lagos
Mon. 17th Nov. ‘25
The Mayor of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to achieve a cleaner and safer community as he led the council’s environmental officers on a thorough assessment of various markets, blackspots, and key landmarks.
Setting out as early as 9am for the exercise from the council premises; the first port of call was the popular Aiye Bus-Stop where the council boss frowned at the illegal dumpsite at the T-Junction. Addressing shop owners and tricycle operators on the axis, Olasoju warned that the council will not hesitate to wield its big sticks on any one found dumping waste at the spot as he called for vigilance from all and sundry on passers-by who mostly constitute the nuisance.
While addressing traders at the popular Obada Market, the council boss charged them on hygiene and regular environmental sanitation as he ordered the immediate removal of illegal extensions along the road. Not sparing the petty traders along the road, the council honcho enlightened them on the importance of their safety as he gave them 72-hour ultimatum to vacate the road setback. He gave similar message at the Oba Osolo Int’l Market as well as Idera Plank Market (pako) where he stressed that the council will no longer tolerate any slight environmental infraction. In clear terms, the council chief told the market leaders to ensure consistent environmental sanitation of the market or risk dire consequences such has having the Market shut.
Earlier in his address to squatters on the Oke-Afa dumpsite, Olasoju whose delivery in pidgin was translated by a Hausa interpreter issued the occupants 96 hours to vacate the junkyard impressing it on them that he\'s not unaware of the shady activities being carried out in the place as he made it clear that it won\'t be business as usual anymore.
Moving to Ago Palace way, Olasoju intermittently addressed the roadside traders, car lot owners as well as market men and women at the popular Century market reechoing his message of environmental sanitation and caution against illegal extension of business premises.
Also worthy of mention is the council boss’ painstaking assessment of the narrow drainage at Ago Roundabout and the blockage of a thoroughfare along the premises of the popular Pentecostal church, Realm of Glory, as he assured that the two situations will be looked into with the aim of proffering lasting solutions.
